U.S. solar power installations fell 15% on a year earlier in 3Q 2018 according to industry association SEIA. Uncertainty over the level of tariffs to be applied to imports – settled at 30% on all imports over 2.5 gigawatts of capacity – was said to be the reason for delayed installations that will now occur in 4Q. U.S. imports of solar power equipment fell 78.1% on a year earlier in the three months to Nov. 30 though shipments from Malaysia and South Korea have fallen by a smaller amount.
