The latest purchasing manager survey by the ISM was better than expected by economists at 51.5, indicating growth in manufacturing is expected. Import expectations are still negative, but at a lower rate than previously. The export outlook continued to positive, albeit at a modestly lower rate than a month earlier. Whether these positives can offset the negatives seen by the WTO and managers in France and the U.K. remains to be seen.
