The visit of China’s Prime Minister to Cuba to “deepen” relations may also be a move to ensure China retains and improves its trade relations as the U.S. cuts sanctions. Chinese exports to Cuba dropped 24% on a year earlier in July, and with imports focussed on sugar and nickel there is the need for a lot more trade relations work to be done.
