Chinese Evasion May Be The Least Of The Hardwood Plywood Industry’s Problems

A new petition to the U.S. Commerce Department alleges Chinese manufacturers of hardwood plywood have already started to evade tariffs imposed in January by partially altering the manufacturing of the products involved. Chinese exports to the U.S. had begun to fall ahead of the ITC’s decision, with a 41% drop in the third quarter on a year earlier. Yet, China may be the least of the American manufacturers’ problems.
