Chinese Paper Makers Thrive as U.S. Keeps Door (Mostly) Closed

The U.S. ITC has retained duties against Chinese and Indonesian exports of high quality, sheet-fed press paper for another five years. Panjiva data shows the original case cut U.S. imports from those countries by 70%. Yet, Finland has largely replaced Chinese exports and China still retains a 5% share of the market. Its exporters have instead focussed on Asian markets, and increased shipments 10% in the third quarter and 4% in October.
