Following a period of destocking, U.S. retailers may be rebuilding inventories, shown by an increase in clothing imports in November. Imports of dresses increased the most, with a 62% improvement on a year earlier. The largest import line of T-shirts climbed 8% to reach the highest single month of imports since at least 2007. Cold weather clothes did less well, with coats down for a fourth month. Kids clothes turned a corner, however, with a 2% increase after five straight falls driven by (potential holiday gift) sweaters where imports jumped 14%.
