Colombia Truckers May Push Douwe Egberts Further into Peruvian Coffee

Global coffee exports climbed 7% on a year earlier in January, the third month of growth. That was the result of smaller countries offsetting a 20% drop in shipments from Brazil and 2% from Vietnam. The latter may have reversed in February according to local press. Brazil’s production remains low, but the government has suspended plans to import robusta coffee. Production from Colombian suppliers including Cafe de Colombia had partly offset the Brazilian shortfall, but may be threatened in the mid-term by trucking strikes.
