The fatal Colonial Pipeline explosion will leave northeast gasoline buyers more reliant on seaborne imports. The line’s previous closure in September resulted in an 18% increase in imports via sea on a year earlier for the month. Panjiva data shows there were 16 shipments in the 13 day closure vs. six in the previous 13 days. Around half the imports by volume during the period of closure came from Tupras in Turkey and Repsol of Spain.
