The U.S. Commerce Department will proceed with an investigation into alleged dumping of Spanish olives, making it the only new food-related case under review (the others are quinquennial updates). While U.S. imports increased 11% in 2016 vs. 2015, including Spanish shipments rising 13%, they have since fallen. In the 12 months to May 31 imports are back to 2010 levels after falling 13% in the past quarter. Spanish olives remain 4% cheaper than average however.
