COSCO Leads Brazil’s Bumper August, While Maersk Takes a Subtle Path

Container-lines operating on Brazilian routes had yet another bumper month in August, with shipments rising 16% to their highest in over 4 years. Preliminary economic data for September shows the growth likely continued. COSCO Shipping was the fastest growing major line with a 42% expansion on a year earlier. With the CSCL restructuring in the past that indicates strong organic market share gains. The acquisition of Orient Overseas deal won’t add significant volumes.
