U.S. computer imports fell 16% on a year earlier in February, with seven million units shipped making for the worst month (port strikes aside) since February 2011. Seaborne shipments in March suggest there was a rebound, with the result that first quarter units may only be 1% lower. Unit values are increasing though, with laptops climbing 9% on a year earlier in the first quarter. Dell’s imports in the first quarter were likely 5% lower than a year earlier, while Lenovo’s rebound in March should result in a 4% increase.
