Global PC shipments increased by just 1% in the fourth quarter of 2017, with conditions in the U.S. reported as being “challenging”. Import data for the U.S. does not suggest 2018 will be much better. Imports of all PC types fell by 6% in December, while seaborne shipments in January fell 10% on a year earlier. Encouragingly though the average value per unit improved by 17% in December for laptops, continuing a six month run of improving values.
