Freight forwarder DSV has initiated a Spain-to-China rail service, making it the 11th major Europe-to-China operation launched in the past year. The offering takes advantage of a surge in Spanish exports to China which rose 42% on a year earlier in the 12 months to June 30, with rail accounting for just 2% of the total in 4Q 2017. With a time saving vs. sea of 24 days (i.e. twice as fast) the service should be broadly attractive.
