Expeditors Faces Slowing Growth, Narrowing Margins

Third party logistics operator Expeditors International reported a 17.6% surge in revenues in 4Q 2018. That was 3.7% points better than analysts’ expectations and included a 21.0% jump in ocean freight volumes in October. Yet, growth is starting to slow with Expeditors’ U.S. seaborne volumes having increased by just 5.2% year over year in January. With 55.4% of shipments coming from China the firm also faces the risk of a further drop in volumes depending on the outcome of trade negotiations.
