Fire Threat to LA and Long Beach Yet to Ignite

Coronavirus 511 Corp - Ports 908 Logistics 476 Mode - Rail 120 U.S. 5398

The latest Californian wildfire has closed a rail route into the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, which account for a third of U.S. import capacity. So far supply chains are unaffected, but previous disruptions, like the 2015 strikes, caused significant diversions to ports east of Panama. A great many importers are exposed, with notable names including Samsung Electronics, Ikea and Autozone.
