The U.S. and South Korean government have agreed to engage in talks regarding “amendments” to the KORUS trade deal. The U.S. continues to be fixated on cutting the trade deficit, which is already 20% below the 2016 levels it refers to in communications. Care will be needed in the amount of amendments made, in order to avoid falling foul of rules that require Congressional consultation.
