Ford plans to start importing its EcoSport small SUV to the U.S. from India in late 2017, as part of a larger small vehicle supply chain strategy. So far its main imports, aside from Canada, have been of the Fiesta from Mexico and the Transit Connect from Europe, Panjiva data shows. Shipments have increased 84% in the past 12 months on a year earlier. The move may court controversy with the incoming U.S. administration.
