The French trade deficit was worse than expected by economists as exports fell 4.7%, their fifth straight decline. Yet, this was a lower rate than June, and INSEE’s survey of managers suggest the outlook is becoming less negative. Panjiva data shows seaborne exports of French goods to the U.S. increased 15.2% in August to their highest level since at least 2007.
