Global Trade Hits a New Record As Growth Streak Hits 19 Months

Global 1391 Trade Balance 935

Global trade volumes climbed 5% on a year earlier in August, Panjiva analysis of CPB World Trade Monitor data shows. That was the 19th month of growth, and resulted in a new record. Japan led the way, with a 10% growth in volumes that looks set to have continued in September based on preliminary government data. The same goes for the rest of Asia which expanded 7%. The U.S. fell behind, with export growth climbing just 2% in August and early port data suggesting a drop may have occurred in September.
