GoPro Disappoints But Imports Show Improvement Ahead

Earnings 727 Info Tech - Tech Hardware 797 U.S. 5319

GoPro’s stock fell 14% yesterday after the company missed analysts’ expectations for 4Q sales and gave weaker guidance. Sales increased 24% on a year earlier globally, but the market had expected 31%. Panjiva data shows holiday season imports to the U.S. of GoPro products (four months to November 30) fell 39% on a year earlier. More recent data however shows 20% growth for the three months to end-January. Hopes for sales of the Karma drone face the fact that U.S. imports of drones climbed 238% in the second half of 2016 – many buyers may already be sated.
