A recent surge in unemployment in the U.S. may provide the Trump administration with an excuse to boost protectionism in the manufacturing sector. There’s been a surge in petitions to investigate anti-dumping / subsidy trade rule infractions with the highest number of requests made of the U.S. International Trade Commission in March since Sept. 2018.
