India Makes Fiber as the Trade Case Delay Shines

China 3047 Cons. Discr. - Apparel 530 India 550 Tariffs 1865 U.S. 5398

The U.S. ITA has delayed a preliminary decision in its investigation of subsidization of fine denier polyester staple fiber from China and India., at the petitioners’ request. That adds to eight existing delays, which may be partly driven by expectations of broader trade action by the Trump administration. A delay may be costly – imports fell 8% in June, but those from India surged to 4.7x those of a year earlier.
