The home decorating industry has felt the effect of U.S. tariffs on Chinese exports, with the imposition of list 3 duties including pigments and paints in Sept. 2018 at a 10% rate rising to 25% in May 2019. Seaborne imports of pigments and paints from China fell 33.0% year over year in the three months to Jul. 31, outpacing the 23.8% drop seen for the market overall.
