Labor protests at Mexican factories operated for Honeywell, Lear, Regal Beloit and Poly have raised questions about what counts as “essential” manufacturing. All four have closed facilities and had already been scaling back exports before the outbreak. Lear was the largest exporter of the four with $2.3 billion exported from Mexico in the 12 months to Feb. 29 after a dip of 0.3% year over year in the past three months.
