TV manufacturers have warned that they may scale back their Indian assembly operations in response to a 10% tariff on LED panel imports imposed by the government. That comes as part of the “Make In India” policy to encourage increased manufacturing of components as well as assembly in the country. The tariff may lead the manufacturers to import completed sets on a similar tariff – an increase in duties could just end up hurting consumers.
