A new oil pipeline from Myanmar to China finally entered operation on April 10 after being completed in 2014. This should help China diversify and accelerate its oil supplies to landlocked Yunnan province. Panjiva data shows that the only countries where China has increased imports in the past quarter and the past year were Brazil and Russia. Imports from Brazil increased 12% in the 12 months to January 31 on a year earlier. By contrast those from Kuwait and Iran fell over both the past quarter and the past year. That would suggest a reduced reliance on Arabian gulf producers recently.
