Canada’s trade boom continued for an 18th month out of the past 19 with a 6% increase, due in large part to a 9% rise in imports. Trade with the U.S. also expanded, with a 9% improvement in imports comparing to a 3% rise in exports and resulting in the lowest trade surplus since April 2016. That may improve U.S. sentiment – based on relative trade balances – ahead of the resumption of NAFTA talks.
