President Trump has reiterated his determination to withdraw from NAFTA if an adequate deal cannot be reached. That comes as Mexico has indicated such a notice would be a red line for it to withdraw from the negotiations. At the same time the President has left the door open to a delay until after the elections in Mexico as “there’s no rush” to deal and he “would rather be able to negotiate”. Curiously though he has referred to using the negotiations to have Mexico pay for the proposed border wall – which Mexico has also indicated is another red line in negotiations.
