New Zealand moved into a trade deficit in July, according to official figures, at a level inline with those expected by economists. The main reason was a 9% drop in exports to the U.S., trade with which is led by wine, timber and fruit according to Panjiva data. While imports dropped 10% on a year earlier globally, aircraft shipments kept them above seasonal levels, hence the deficit.
