U.S. auto sales returned to growth in September with a 6.1% year over year expansion, improving from a 19.2% decline in August. Sales of domestic light trucks rose by 12.9% while foreign built light trucks increased by 8.0%. The major U.S.-based automakers face manufacturing bottlenecks including staffing issues in the face of the pandemic as well as the implementation of USMCA. The latter “will be a challenge” for smaller parts makers according to Toyota.
