Global airfreight handling jumped 13% on a year earlier in May. That was the 14th straight increase. The most notable increase was a 14% increase in traffic for North American airlines, though they still lagged European peers for a 16th month in a row. The expansion modestly outpaces the 11% growth in sea-freight seen at ports in 10 countries tracked by Panjiva. When taken together air- and sea-freight trends suggests the 3% growth in global trade seen in April may have accelerated in May.
