U.S. oil production could climb 11% in 2018 to reach a new record according to the EIA. That’s been the result of a mixture of higher prices and more readily available export markets. It will go some way towards meeting the Trump administration’s aims of leveraging American oil dominance within its National Security strategy, though exports were just 25% of imports in the fourth quarter.
