The South African government has rejected the proposed merger of the container-line operations of Mitsui OSK, NYK and K-Line to form ONE. The government ruled that it increases the risks of collusion in an industry that is already allegedly prone to it. The move is consistent with the SA government’s investigation of rate setting by four other lines (not including these three).
