Peru’s Corn Case May Be The Canary In The Coal Mine for American Support Retaliation

The government of Peru has launched an anti-subsidy case against American corn exports. Export guarantees and insurance support are cited as part of a program equivalent to 11% of the market corn price. It comes ahead of a $12 billion support program for American farmers in reaction to duties applied by China and the EU among others and so may be extended. The Peruvian case may also be the first of many regarding American farming support.
