The U.S. government has outlined the process for companies to request exemptions from 25% duties applied to around $200 billion of Chinese exports applied from May 10. Prior experience with around $50 billion of products suggests exemptions will be slow in arriving. There are still 35.2% of cases from July and August still awaiting a decision while only 21.9% of decisions have resulted in an exemption.
