Renewables Not Replaceable (At The Price) As Section 201 Tariffs Bite

Investment in the U.S. renewable energy sector has reportedly fallen by $2.5 billion this year as a result of the Trump administration’s section 201 duties. These add 30% to the cost of imported panels which in turn make previously agreed power sales contracts uneconomic. Imports of solar panels fell 74% in the three months to April sequentially but have risen by 13% in May as suppliers get used to new market conditions.
