The South African competition authorities have approved the merger of K-Line, Mitsui OSK and NYK to form Ocean Network Express (ONE) with minimal conditions relating to their non-container line operations. The approval is the last required for ONE’s formation, and shows the complexity of the regulatory approval process. The deal was launched in November 2016. It also shows the light regulatory touch being applied in such deals.
