Automaker Stellantis has had to close production at five factories until “early to mid-April” due to a shortage of semiconductors. The closures in North America of selected Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep vehicle production lines marks a contrast to the approach to “decontent” production taken by Ford and General Motors. Mexican imports of parts linked to Stellantis have continued to grow in February with a 15.2% year over year increase. Mexican imports linked to GM and Ford meanwhile fell by 24.3% and 16.5% respectively while total shipments dipped 2.9% lower.
