Traffic growth through the Suez Canal accelerated to 6.8% in October from 4.7% in the second quarter, reaching a one-month record for the number of vessels using the canal in the month of October. That was helped by improved growth in both tanker and container carrier transits. The growth in global trade seen in October will have helped, while the Suez Canal also took a larger share of that growth from the Panama Canal which saw a 0.9% decline in vessel transits.
