Super Micro power up Taiwan manufacturing as freight delays, costs rise

Computer manufacturer Super Micro reported Q4’20 revenues which fell by 4.7% year over year. The firm’s CEO, Charles Liang, has noted supply chain constraints and that “it’s become very (much) harder to ship products. Even from Asia to U.S.A., we see the shipping delay and the cost increase in that.” That’s led the firm to expand its production in Taiwan, which will also reduce exposure to ongoing U.S. tariffs on imports from mainland China.
