Talks between the U.S. and Canada to reach a new Softwood Lumber Agreement will continue despite an October 12 deadline having passed. Panjiva data suggests Canadian exporters including Tolko and Canfor are not awaiting an agreement. The dollar value of exports to the U.S. of the relevant products jumped 28% in August vs. a year earlier to the highest level since at least January 2009, with another 52% jump likely having occurred in September.
