The administration of President Donald Trump is close to announcing the results of its review of trade policy toward Cuba. This will likely see restrictions on trade rather than breaking off diplomatic relations. The impact on Cuba’s export economy will be minimal. Shipments to the U.S. were effectively zero anyway, with China representing 73% of Cuba’s exports. In turn 59% of those were sugar, and may be affected by China’s recent increase in tariffs.
