The administration of President Trump reportedly supports a renewal of the Generalized System of Preferences. The GSP allows for duty free imports of 5,000 products from developing economies, of which India is the largest beneficiary. The program lapsed at the end of December 2017. A renewal may include significant changes to the program to fit other policy aims.
