Typhoon Hato Brings Disruption Risks to Flextronics, Gree

Typhoon Hato has tragically left at least nine people dead in southern China after making landfall at Zhuhai City. Reports of damage to businesses have not yet been forthcoming. Panjiva data shows major importers in the city include Flextronics and petrochemicals plants owned by BP, Petrochina and Longhua. Flextronics also features as the largest exporter, followed by appliances manufacturer Gree. Major product lines that may be disrupted include phones ($2.3 billion of trade in the past year), home appliances ($2.2 billion), petrochemicals ($1.9 billion) and toys ($1.8 billion).
