U.S. seaborne imports returned to growth in July, rising 2.2% on a year earlier according to Panjiva data. Geographically this was driven by growth from the European Union (5.7%) and China (4.8%), while furniture and toys grew strongly in terms of products. For the full year this could mean 1.6% growth overall, a picture that is supported by consumer and industrial confidence figures.
