Under Armour’s HOVR Can’t Stop Slippage in Sales, Imports

Cons. Discr. - Apparel 494 Earnings 725 U.S. 5317

Under Armour reported 1Q 2019 revenues that included a 3.0% drop in revenues in North America as well as a 23.8% year over year decline in inventories. That’s consistent with a 34.6% year over year drop in its U.S. seaborne shipments in 1Q, which in turn was driven by a 40.0% slump in its imports of apparel. By contrast Under Armour’s imports of footwear only fell 9.9%, perhaps reflecting technical innovation from the HOVR line, as opposed to clothing which has relied more on celebrity endorsements.
