Volkswagen may run into Mexican supply chain issues after rail blockade

A rail blockade in Michoacán, Mexico has ended after 29 days with disruptions to local supply chains that could have cost as much as $2 million per day, according to a local industry association. Exports to the U.S. and Canada passing through the region had been improving after the pandemic-related industrial closures with shipments in August having increased by 3.1% year over year despite the blockade.
