The U.S. ITC has decided to continue an investigation into Chinese exports of hardwood plywood. A decision on duties in February may be one of the first detailed moves to be made under the incoming administration of President-elect Trump. Panjiva data shows U.S. imports of the products being investigated increased in dollar terms by 23% on a year earlier in October, and by a further 72% in November and 54% in December in shipment terms. This suggests Chinese shippers expect the case will lead to duties, unlike a similar one from 2013.
