The USDA has approved the import of lemons from Argentina subject to final standards checks. Imports peak in early summer, so the impact on the market may be minimal for the next six months. U.S. imports have been steadily increasing, with a 10% rise in the six months to November 30 on a year earlier, Panjiva data shows. Mexican suppliers account for 93% of supplies, but are highly fragmented. With the top 10 Mexican suppliers only accounting for 49% of U.S.-bound exports they may have trouble negotiating with buyers who will have more choice available.
