Contract manufacturer Wistron is joining Foxconn in manufacturing electronic components – specifically printed circuit boards (PCBs) for Apple’s iPhone – in India. Prime Minister Modi has been pushing for Indian self reliance in electronics manufacturing under the “Make in India” policy. That seems to be working, with imports from China and Vietnam of phone components down 10.8% and 35.1% year over year respectively in the three months to Oct 31.
